I just signed up to one of the top online forum sites. I made a decision that I should ask some help from the online community. This is still connected to my current pursuit for the restoration of my father’s bike. It took me several minutes to finish the registration and afterward I was able to take part on a specific thread. I was also very thankful that everyone out there was really helpful and friendly to the newbie like me. I posted a question yesterday about the weight of my frame. I was asking them of how much does the weight of the frame affects the riding of a rider. Then, just this morning I found a very useful answer to that. It was a very specific information from a member and he had a lot proofs like the standard weights and sizes of the tubes. Totally, I was so thankful for their helping hands and I hope they’ll be more generous next time.
Today I was on my way home and I took my phone in hand then press some keys to light it up for me to see the time. It was 10 o’clock in the morning and the sun’s heat seemed to be very hot. I can’t even stay for a minute under the sun because if I do it, I felt my head aching so much. Today is the worst day for me since I don’t really understand how heavy the heat outside is. And I can’t even afford to walk to my cousin’s house. But I am still thankful for this day since we were still very okay though we just can resist the heat from the environment.
One of the things that made me so enthusiastic to be on a BMX ride is the tricks. I started to learn pedaling on my first bike which was trash from a son of my father’s friend. He was a Chinese guy and was residing in our country because of his business here. He decided to give it to my father since his son doesn’t do biking anymore because he has grown up. Basically the structure of the bike wasn’t looks like a BMX bike but it was the platform of all my learning. I got several scars because of several crashes that I had experienced during those years. I’ve been riding that bike for several years; from six years old until…maybe I was twelve year old that time when I noticed that I can’t fit anymore on the bike.
So I began to learn riding on the much bigger wheel of my father’s bicycle. It is quite harder for me since it is higher and it weighs much than of the first bike that I have. But in a matter of time I became used to it and also I learned how to fix some basic defects. When I got to college, I found it very hard to spend time on riding the bike because of the hectic schedules. So the wheels were sent out of my sight and I got focused on my students and other things. Until then, my father’s bike wasn’t given the necessary care that why it turned out into a rusty machine.
But now that I am done with my studies, I am trying to restore the bike and make it better than what it is during the past decade. It was assembled by my father in the year of 1989 which was the year of my birth but I came first by the month of September before my father put up the bike in December. So, I should say that it’s about two decades since the bike came to serve us and I just want to restore it. Well just stay tuned for more and I hope I could share a lot more to all of you.
I have attached my brand new BMX rotor to my bike. My bike’s brake system is much better this time because the tension of the brake lever is much smoother than the first one wherein there was no rotor or gyro attachment. It feels like there is something on it which makes it comfortable to handle during the time when I pull the lever. I love the new look of my father’s antique bicycle. Now, I am trying to ask help from our local shops of how I could change my 1 piece crank set into a 3 piece. I won’t allow myself to spend so much for this because according to one of the bike shops that I asked about this problem it needs to undergo conversion method. Due to that he assured me that I would spend thousands of pesos from my budgets for the conversion. I hope I can find cheaper solution aside from what he advised on me.
Today I got a new part for my BMX bike. I got it from a bicycle shop down town and they call it a bicycle rotor but when I search it online it is called a gyro. Regardless of what it was called by the people around it functions the same which is to serve as an solid linkage between the brake cables. It enables the driver to turn the handle bars to do several tricks without worrying about the brake cables. I hope this will do and maybe I am almost half way to the restoration of my father’s BMX bike.
I was worried with my desktop computer because I think it needs to be cleaned. As I peeked in a transparent part of the casing, I noticed that a lot of dust has been accumulated inside the unit. The worst thing here is that the video card’s board is almost field with thick dust. Now, my problem is I am still gathering some amounts to buy a vacuum cleaner for computers. Maybe it would be soon the next week because according to my calculations, it would take several days to release the cash from my account. Gosh! This is not normal and is supposed to be alarming because sooner I know it would damage my system.
Today I was able to purchase a new fork for the BMX bike that I was mentioning in my earlier post which was originally owned and used by my father. I was so crazy finding for funds to make my goal possible. I dig my bank account just to have this one kicked off. Now I am a bit ignited and the passion inside me is really developing. I felt hope so much hopeful that by the end of the next month I will be starting to renovate the bike so that it will be back on the road again.
Talking about extreme sports, I think this one will do. Street luge is one of the famous extreme sports. I think it is a byproduct of the first two sports which are the skateboarding and longboarding. It’s somehow similar because there are certain parts of the street luge equipment that is the same as what a skateboard or longboard has. The different is that in street luge the rider lies on the equipment while in skateboards or longboards the skater doest the riding in a standing position. But totally I know that being into these kinds of activities is much better than any other.
Bicycles have been a big part in our family especially with my father because it’s his primary means of transportation. He used to go to work every day with his bike. It was a BMX bike which was older than me because father purchased it a year before I came to the family. The bike is still in our house but was never used due to lack of budget. So, I was trying to earn for now because I want to fix it up and so we can use it again. There are several parts of it that needs to be replaced with a new one.
This morning my little cousin caught me fixing my native toy used in to play our traditional games called “Sungka”. Well, it is somehow an indoor board game which is played by two people. It is a game of strategy, techniques, and calculations. Although there are dirty strategies and techniques but it is suggested to maintain fair play between both sides. It is just a simple game wherein the goal of each player is to accumulate all the stones or shells until the opponent got nothing in the base. I forgot to grab a picture but I hope next time I’ll be able to present one. It is really a nice game rather than those addictive games nowadays.
